Hi All - First post, please be gentle.

2003 Mk2 1.9 Diesel Gal Ghia

Owned for approx 1 year now, seeing me by on a short daily commute - serving me well.

Aircon failed a long time ago, and funds to "investigate" the problem really arnt worth it - not having aircon doesnt bother me (especially at the moment!!)

My main query is over the strength/power of the front blowers - they are very weak (in my opinion) and the rear one is way more powerful when both on full.

Just wondering is theres a little knowledge on here that maybe able to shed some light on whether a: They are simply that weak or b: theres a fix or method to ensure they are clear and running OK.

Any info most welcome.

On a side note, good to find this forum, already helped me change my headlight bulbs which seemed to be designed for small handed children with 7 fingers.

Hi and welcome to the forum

As you have the ghia will assume you have auto climate control, in the auto control air distribution is controlled automatically by sensors in the car, if you want maximum airflow to either screen, floor, or vents you can select them yourself. Windows steaming up this time of year will be compounded by aircon not working, this is assuming all the air doors in the heater unit are working correctly, heater blower speed is controlled by sensor commonly called the hedgehog.

Vag-Com may help you pin point any faults present on your system.

Cheers.

Im using the directional buttons - being cold at the moment, Im whacking both front and rear on Max (speed and temp) and setting front to blow into cabin more by selecting the dash vents as a priority.

I would make the assumption that the front fan is a third of the power of the rear fan!

Ive tried in both Econ on and with Econ off, makes no difference.

Got no problems with steam up at all or temperature, just the rather sedate front blowers could be much better I think in terms of performance, especially when its -5 in the mornings.

Wheres the main intake and/or best places to look for correct operation or blockages?
